This car is like the one that was in the movie "Hotrod". It was featured in the Janurary 1975 issue of "Streetrodder" magazine. It is a true piece of hotrod history. This car was put together by the famous Al Kvarme of Belmont, California. He rodded in excess of 30, 1950 Oldsmobiles. This particular car was customized, while many of his were restored to original. This car has a Nasty big block Chevy. The motor was dynoed at over 500hp at the flywheel. It has 9.5/1 compression, so it will run on pump gas. The motor is just out of a very competent engine shop and is fresh. It runs on pump gas metered by two freshly built Holleys sitting on a Weiand tunnel ram. Fire is provided by a new Pertrinox ignition system. The fumes exit through a new exhaust system. The built 400 THM w/2500 stall shifts correctly and sends power to a posi-traction 3.55 1963 Oldsmobile differential. The car rolls on new period aluminum slots with new 30" tall piecrust slicks at the rear.

The sheetmetal is all steel. This western car has never rusted. The glass is perfect. The stainless is amazing. It has been nosed and decked. The wheel wells are raised. The color is Porshe blood orange.The paint is brand new. The interior is glorious. The leather upholstery is very period in its' style and the orange/black combination goes very well with the car. The trim around the windows is all chromed. A very attractive three pod gague cluster is integrated into the dash. The interior is flawless.

We have worked hard to restore the apperance as the car was in 1975. The front bumper and grill are with the car and are in great condition. They were removed to make room for a moon tank and to enhance that "gasser" look. This car does not have a straight axle, rather the suspension is stock and in great condition. The entire underside looks like it could be eight years old, not 58! If you like the look and like the promenance, you've found yourself a real star. Whats not to like about this beautiful '50 Olds Fastback? Viewed: 1364 times.
