Finding one of these is difficult. Finding one that is unmolested is challenging. Finding one in nice California condition, from a noted collection, with low miles...it is close to impossible. But not quite, you just found one.
This car was born and raised in California. Built at the Long Beach plant and sold in San Bernadino. It eventually went through a restoration and became part of the Nick Alexander collection. His cars are all nice, desireable and low mileage.
This car shows just over 66,000 miles. We don't know if that is accurate, but we do know the odometer works. The car has been redone both inside and out. It looks great all around.
There were only 5261 1952 Mercury Monterey convertibles produced. This one has not been customized. If the colors have been changed, it was done throughly. We had the back seat out and cannot see that it was ever another color.
The 3 speed wit hoverdrive and 3.73 rear gear combination makes this a great road car. It will handle freeway speeds with ease.
The powertrain is in good condition. The engine bay appears very neat , tidy and correct.
The chrome and stainless are nice. The glass is all good. The top is like new. The body is straight and smooth but shows a few touchups from driving.
All features including the radio and power top work. We have discovered that the door locks do not work with our keys.
