I searched far and wide for a Crew Cab that was nicely equipped and had the 6.2 liter LS3 engine. I wanted a truck that could be my daily driver as well as back up my Duramax powered 2500HD for trailer pulling duty. I finally found just the truck I wanted. Black is my second favorite color after white. I wanted a nicely loaded up truck at a reasonable price.
To accomplish the price consideration, I have always looked for vehicles that had been in an accident when near new. This truck was involved in an accident with around 23,000 miles on the odometer. It was bad enough that the insurance company paid off the owner and put the truck into the insurance pool. It always takes a while before it ends up at a repair facility that will take the necessary steps to fix the damage and do it right. Ultimately, the vehicle is then inspected by the State Police and the Salvage Title is converted to a Reconstructed Title.
When new, the cost of the truck exceeded $50,000. It was sold new in North Carolina. It was driven there until the accident. It ended up in Pennsylvania, where the repairs were completed in 2019. The inspection was completed and the title was converted. I purchased the truck in June of 2019. Now I have purchased a new 2500HD and will keep my old 2500HD for plowing duties and as a back-up for towing trailers. Thus, I no longer need this truck.
Before I delve into the way it is equipped and the condition of the truck, let me tell you that I have absolutely enjoyed driving it. It is nimble, responsive and attractive. During the past 9000 miles of driving I have averaged 19.7 mpg according to the computer. I always do the math on every fillup and the computer is very, very close to calculated fuel economy. I was utilizing 5.3 powered Suburbans and Yukons for my daily drivers and could not even get close to the performance of this truck.
The engine is the 6.2 liter V8, rated at 420HP and 460 pounds of torque. The transmission is the 8L90 eight speed automatic. The rear axle is geared at 3.42 ratio and is limited slip. The rated GVW is 7700 and that does not take into consideration that I added an Air Lift 5000 suspension upgrade with in-cab controller.
This truck is equipped for towing. It has the Enhanced Towing Package, heavy duty receiver hitch, integral brake controller, both engine oil and transmission auxiliary coolers, and the wonderful trailering mirrors that are extendable and power-folding. It also has a locking tailgate that works great with the Extang Solid Fold tonneau cover that I added over the bed. The bed was protected from new with a spray-on liner.
New Goodyear Dueler HL Alenza 275/55R/20 tires were installed on the 9×20 chrome wheels at 25000 miles. The front end was aligned at the time. I had the alignment checked recently and it is right on. The tires were filled with compressed Nitrogen gas and I am a stickler for monitoring tire pressure and rotation. I believe they will go another 50,000 miles.
The LTZ package and added options really have this truck dress up nicely. It has heated leather covered captain’s chairs and center console. The seats are power and the driver’s seat has memory. You will enjoy the CD/MP3 factory stereo and Navigation. The rear window is power sliding and has a defogger. The glass is privacy tinted from new. There are two key fobs and they actuate the remote starting feature. The climate control feature is fantastic and will keep you and your passenger comfy.
To make the truck look good and provide protection, WeatherTech no-drill mud flaps were added. I also added a hood guard and side window visors. The Aluminum step tubes were installed when the truck was new. There are two spare tires.
I have put on just over 25,000 and enjoyed every minute of driving this truck. I use it as my daily driver, have towed trailers and have taken long trips. It has never let me done and has only required routing maintenance and service. I have been using synthetic oil and it never requires topping between changes. Every feature works properly and no repairs are required.
It is almost impossible to find a used Silverado that is equipped as well as this truck, has 50,000 or less miles and is under $30,000. I welcome you to do your searching and comparisons. If you want a great truck that is nicely equipped, looks sharp and will tow a trailer, yet get great fuel economy, this is the one for you. I am saddened to sell it, but my situation has changed.
I am more than happy to answer your questions. Please remember that the title is branded as Reconstructed. If you are from the State of WI, I will need to collect Sales Tax and title/registration fees in addition to the cost of the truck.
So go ahead and search far and wide for a comparable truck. When you have exhausted your time searching, I welcome you to come and check out my truck. I have to believe that you will be as impressed with it as I have been. Thanks for looking
